INTERIOR TIPS:
There is no exact list that fits every home but I've tried to list
tips that generally apply to most homes. Remember that you want
your house to show the best it can. Making a good first impression
can be critical to the sale of your home.
BASIC TIPS TO MAKE EVERY ROOM LOOK IT'S BEST
- Start with the ceilings, look to see if there are any watermarks. If so, it's
a red flag that there could be a leak, either past or present. Address the source
and paint when it's resolved.
- Clean the windows and window treatments. Let as much light as possible.
Check to see if you have any broken or cracked glass panes or any torn screens
that need repair.
- Fingerprints on doors and light switches need to disappear. This usually
means more cleaning vs. painting.
- Evaluate how your floors look. Clean appropriately for hardwoods, tile, and
carpeting. Is there carpet that needs to be replaced? If it is a 1970's shag, yes,
otherwise its probably discussion time.
- Make up the beds, keep stairs and hallways clean, try to reduce any clutter
and remove any trash. Expect everyone to look, so clean out or at least straighten
out your closets.
- Go around your house and replace any burnt out light bulbs (Interior and
Exterior).
- Interior painting can be a big project and the decision to paint can depend
on many factors. Things like color, condition, accessibility, pricing, and
additional repairs can all be factors so this may be a decision you want to
discuss with your REALTOR
